La Berlinale rende noti i primi nove film selezionati, tra il concorso internazionale e Berlinale Special. Insieme al già annunciato film d’apertura, The Kindness of Strangers di Lone Scherfig arrivano sei produzioni e co-produzioni dall’Austria, il Canada, la Francia, la Germania e la Grecia, oltre all’Olanda, la Serbia e la Turchia, tutti parte del concorso internazionale. 

Altre tre le produzioni invitate nella sezione Berlinale Special come parte integrante del programma ufficiale.  Tra gli autori presenti in concorso François Ozon, Fatih Akin, Angela Schanelec  Denis Côté che è un abitué della Berlinale, lo ricordiamo in concorso proprio a Berlino con Boris Sans Béatrice, Vic + Flo ont vu un ours
